We're starting 2024 on an extremely positive note at Rivers, welcoming Ian Mills to the team as our new Business Development Manager – Corporate Loans.
Ian joins us following more than 30 years in business finance, ranging from an illustrious career at Natwest to pivotal periods at Capify, Chatsbrook and Boost Capital. He has enjoyed a particular focus on short-term lending and alternative finance since 2017, and is passionate about proactively helping businesses to achieve their growth goals and objectives.
Ian's knowledge and experience spans the full spectrum of lending capabilities from credit assessments, underwriting and careful due diligence to relationship management. He is driven by a desire to lend responsibly and ethically, and speaks fondly of the success of independent businesses whose funding he facilitated.
Ian says: "My focus is to always deliver proper customer service and to provide true care for the client through responsible lending. That approach requires me to put both my underwriting and relationship manager hats on, so that when we make an offer I feel comfortable lending to the client by delivering a healthy relationship - not just lending at any cost. In my experience customers are often offered a great portal but are let down by poor customer service. I, like Rivers, pride myself on offering a personalised and tailored service to ensure brokers and customers are kept apprised of their application from start to finish."
Having overseen portfolios of up to 450 SME customers at a time, Ian recalls with enthusiasm working with a variety of organisations, such as 86 independent hotels in the Sussex Gardens area. Amongst them was a fledgling organisation that was set to become The Piano Works in Farringdon - now with an additional location in London's West End, for example.
Having joined the Rivers team for what's set to be a year of exciting launches and product rollouts, Ian says: "It's a great pleasure to be joining the team at Rivers.
